Pixie Lott

It seems like almost every UK artist wants to break into the US market! It’s not easy but there is where all the big bucks are. This is no exception for Miss Pixie Lott.

It is reported that Pixie Lott is changing one third of her debut album ‘Turn It Up‘ when she releases the record in American later this year.

According to UK’s The Sun, instead of just recording a couple of new songs for the CD, her American label are planning to remove a large chunk of the album and replace them with fresh tracks altogether in her bid to crack the States.

A source told them:

“American execs are chomping at the bit to get hold of British urban acts. But they’re not convinced by what they’ve seen of Pixie so far.

“They are concerned that Turn It Up has only sold about half a million copies. They want to give it a fairly major overhaul before they present her to the public.”

Well see how well she will do…

Gravity is the fourth single from Pixie Lott and we now have the music video!

IMO, this is simplicity at its best, I like this.

Black outfit and white background theme, and dancing.

Pretty good !

Cry Me Out is the third single off Pixie Lott’s album.

The video is nothing amazingly spectacular but it wasn’t that bad either.
Perhaps the black and white team did make thing seem a lil more boring.

“Turn It Up” is the debut album by British singer-songwriter Pixie Lott, to be release on 14 September 2009. She has released two singles from the album, the chart-topper “Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)“, and the second single, “Boys and Girls“.

First Impressions
I didn’t really get the hype of “Mama Do” in the first place and why the song is able to reach number 1 on the UK singles chart. As I give it a few more spins, the song does has it’s charm. Generally, the album is mostly about late-teen female heartaches.

Standout Tracks

• Mama Do
  First single as the album opener. Quite Mark Ronson-ish. It’s a soulful pop song, something that Duffy would record.
• Cry Me Out
  Rumoured to be the 3rd single set to release in Oct. It’s a rather good ballad with pop/soul sensibilities and witty lyrics.
• Band Aid
  Co-written and produced by Toby Gad, there’s a hint of Natasha Bedingfield in this track.
• Boys and Girls
  2nd single. Definitely a party-vibe song. The Hot Pink Delorean Remix bring this song to another higher level.
• Here We Go Again
  A RedOne production. There’s definitely RedOne beats in background. Has a cool factor.

Final Verdict
Overall, the album has soul influences. I would say it’s a hippier version of Duffy’s record. Though some songs needs a little fine-tuning as they lack character, it’s an alright album. Not fantastic, just acceptable. Pixie has the advantage though as she’s an all rounder being a singer-songwriter. Perhaps this album feels a little ‘green’ to me.

Boys And Girls is the second single off Pixie Lott’s album Turn It Up

On the 3 September 2009, the song debuted on the Irish Singles Chart at number forty-five. It then climbed it’s way up to number 4.

As for the music video, it’s rather boring, same old party scene, same old dancing.

Though the gigantic gold bow and some parts  did remind me a little of Lady Gaga’s Just Dance music video
