Definitely, Singapore have waited for slightly more than a decade for Mariah Carey to grace the shores again since her first appearence here for her “Rainbow World Tour” on 13 March, 2000. But on 26 September 2010, Mariah set her foot in sunny and humid Singapore again and performed at the 2010 Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix “LG Live” event to an estimated 50 thousand ++ crowd!!!

I was extremely estatic that I had the chance to attend this event! Of course, the final race that night was pretty exciting too. =) Standing in the “Fan Zone“, me and the legion of fans were eagerly waiting for her appearence.

Cueing in the music, the instrumental for “Butterfly” could be heard from the speakers. I thought she would start off with that track as it’s one of my faves and a VERY inspirational song to me. Alas, it’s just an intro. =( Mariah kicked off the set with “Obsessed“. Not a bad choice. The song sets the hyped-up mood to another level. Yeah, we’re definitely obsessed with her!!!

Continuing on with “Emotions“, the disco-influenced pop song got the crowd moving!! Pitch-perfect when she reaches the high wailing notes. A note: the songs she performed on this set are ALL signature hits!!!

The infamous fall happened on “Make it Happen” (no pun intended), which was the third for the night. Mariah stated constantly that her heels were ‘killing’ her throughout the night, and referanced that she gonna be like Patti Labelle for the rest of the event by not wearaing shoes and perform bare-footed!! As for the fall, I think she just lost her balance. At least it wasn’t a loud ‘thump’!! She might be 4 months pregnant and some people thought that she did it as a publicity stunt. I mean, come on, stop directing at her weight too. As if most of them has a body of Greek God. She recovered like a true diva btw. =)

2 uptempos are being scheduled next!! “Dreamlover” and “It’s Like That“. LOVE both performances. Followed by “One Sweet Day“, which has that choir effect from the backup singers. Lovely indeed!!

Trey Lorenz was part of the entourage and joined Mariah for a duet on her MTV Unplugged hit and the Micheal Jackson cover, “I’ll Be There“. For those who don’t know who Trey Lorenz is, he’s a often support Mariah on her tours and provides backing vocals to her songs. He sings the Jermaine Jackson’s lines on the Unplugged version as well as live. It’s a treat, no less. =)

Another 2 uptempos are up with “Touch My Body” on the former and “Shake It Off” on the latter. Both are from the Island Records era, which is the late 2000s. Guilty-pleasure songs!!

I think her live rendition of “My All” is better than the album version as she really let her vocals soar!! Amazing!!

I’ve grouped “Always Be My Baby” & “We Belong Together” as a medley and there’s a funny dialogue between her and the fans. *Hugs & Kisses, Mariah*!!! Wonder know what’s the dialouge about?? Watch the vid here!! Oh, and “We Belong Together” is spot on!! Standing Ovation worthy!!!

Lastly for the encore, she ended the set with “Hero“! The song that inspired and motivate many. Can’t be denied that this song is one of the greatest that is ever written and presented rightfully by Mariah!

Overall, the event is a treat for everyone present and although there are a few minor snags like the irrelevant appearance but impressive beatboxer and DJ, all is forgiven once Mariah stepped on stage and deliver. It’s definitely worth everything as she has that God-given voice and used it well. Beyond any doubt to watch and listen to her perform live in your lifetime as Mariah is one of the greatest vocalist of our generation. That, I can vowed!! She sang 100% live!!!

Here’s another remade track being leaked from Mariah’s upcoming guest-filled remix album, “Angels Advocate“. This time, it’s “Ribbon“. I personally find the whole project rather unecessary. By using the cut-and-paste method for the new verses from the guest features, it doesn’t really do her any favours really. This song isn’t that bad to be honest, but it sounds like a mess without a focal point. Ludacris‘ rap is doesn’t fit really well too. The original from “Memoirs” is better.

I guess the only track I approve of being ‘remix’ is “H.A.T.E.U“, which is clever as it samples “My Boo” by Ghost Town DJ’s.

Aww.. poor Mariah! Mariah Carey can’t seem to get a break. With poor album sales and flop after flop singles performances, one would think things will get better. To top things, her current leg of tour in support of her poorly received “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” and remix album “Angels Advocate“, is doing bad.

The box office data for two of the shows was released last week. Data has shown that she has been struggling to fill up the small 3,000 seat venues she’s been performing in. For her show in Atlanta, she sold 2,833 seats out of the total 3,719. For the Washington show, she only managed to fill 2,430 seats out of the available 3,166. Poor Mimi! She is one of the biggest female artist of all time and she only managed to fill 75% of the arenas. That’s sad!

We hope she manage to sell more of her upcoming remix album…

Now we have the music video, it is your typical charity type of music video, hence I will not be commenting on it.

But I think it’s great to see artists working together all in the name of helping out for charity

Since its a charity single, i won’t be posting the track. The track will be available for download on the 7th and released in physical form on the 8th.

Yes, this is what all the doll in box photos were all about, and now we have the video.

I’ve never liked it when Mariah dresses like she’s younger than she is, but this video, is kinda love-hate.

I like the red theme and the vibrancy,and found it quite fun for a change,
however, I don’t really like the outfits, the nurse one was kinda cliched, besides they don’t suit Mariah.

Okay, I don’t think she should go all cutesy. But by all means, Mariah fans will still think she looks great.

So to each his own !

Mariah Carey’s Angels Cry featuring Ne-Yo , is directed by Mariah Carey’s hubby Nick Cannon.

We get to see Mariah’s puppy, ala Paris Hilton-Pup-In-Hand style , and also scenes of her in the rain. I like the emotions portrayed and the rain just helps in stirring more emotions, HOWEVER, I am amused by the fact that Mariah gets wet one moment, and then dry during another it’s like rain everywhere else but above her head.

It also does promo for her fragrance at the same further back in the video.

Neyo, is just like himself as usual.

It was announced previously, Mariah Carey’s first remix album of two will be released on February 23th, but it got pushed to March 9th. And now it got pushed back again! This time to March 23.

I guess, it’s to give room for her two new remixed single time to grow and sink into people’s head. But somehow i think it’s like a lost cause.

Anyways, the first two music videos for this album, “Angels Cry” feat Ne-Yo and “Up Out My Face” feat Nicki Minaj will both premier on Vevo on January 28th!

The second lead single off Mariah Carey’s Angels Advocate is out! Yesterday, the first lead single Angels Cry leaked which features Ne-Yo. This new track Up Yo My Face features rapper Nicki Minaj.

Like “Angels Cry“, the arrangement is totally the same. The only difference is that there are new verses! I guess Mariah Carey is not making much effort in “remixing” her tracks this time around!

Mariah Carey’s is coming back with her first remix album of Memoirs Of an Imperfect Angel called Angels Advocate. The one of two lead singles is Angles Cry. This new remix features Ne-Yo. This track is produced by Stargate.

On first listen, it sounds like Mariah Carey wanted to recreate her “One Sweet Day” magic with Boys II Men. I was expecting more. I was expected the track to have new beats and arrangements. But it sounds totally like the original track with Ne-Yo singing the second verse and singing the chorus with her. At least they got rid of the streaking voice in the beginning. I’m not hating, but i just expected more.

All in all i kinda like this track. It is very radio friendly. I think she will do big with this track.

Mariah Carey’s first of 2 planned remix album gets a name! It’s called “Angels Advocate” and will feature collaborations from Mary J. Blige, Nicki Minaj, Ne-Yo, Big Boi, R. Kelly, Trey Songz, T-Pain, Jodeci, Gucci Mane and Jermaine Dupri that would bring new life to the tracks on Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel.

The remix album will be released on Febuary 23th and the lead singles from this release are ‘Up Out My Face (feat Nicki Minaj)’ and ‘Angels Cry (feat Ne-Yo)’.. The video for both videos have already been shot.

We’ll see if she will score big this time around. Some how i think the whole "Angel" word in the titles are overkill…

Mariah Carey is set to release 2 remix album early next year! YES! TWO REMIX ALBUM!! One remix album will include R&B/Hip-Hop/Pop remixes of her tracks on Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel and the other will comprise of Jump Smokers Club Remixes! I love the sound of it! I doubt these two remix albums will make any big difference to her total sales tally.

H.A.T.E.U is Mariah Carey’s third single off Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel.

The music video which has been highly anticipated is finally out!

IMO,  it is much better than her previous video, yes the budget stadium one.

Though a wee bit boring, and uhm, as usual alot of emphasis on her cleavage, it stirs quite the emotions
as the song is supposed to.

The video is directed by Brett Ratner.

And, despite her whale pictures that were taken during the filming of this video, she actually looks better
in the music video, although I really would rather she put on something less revealing.

Love or hate this Mimi video ! You decide!

In this video, Mariah Carey seems to be singing during the Superbowl halftime show in a very big stadium. To me, the video is a simple “performance” video. I feel she needs to push boundaries to kick the song to a new level. She should; since it’s a classic song!

“Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” is the 12th studio album by Mariah Carey. Originally scheduled for release on August 25, 2009, the project was released on September 29th with Island Records in the US.

The album debuted at #3 in the US, behind Barbra Streisand’s Love Is the Answer and Paramore’s Brand New Eyes with first week sales of 168,000, a noticeable drop from her previous album’s opening week of 463,000. Very unexpected. Since I think this album is slightly better than E=MC2 (Energy Equals Mass Times the Velocity of Light Squared).

First Impressions
This album is rather highly anticipated by me, since it was being pushed back twice for certain reasons. I expected it to be good, but it disappoints. More misses than hits. Her last album was quite commercial for my taste.

“Touch My Body” is very bad, “Bye Bye” underperformed, “Lovin’ You Long Time” is a wrong single choice and “I Stay In Love” was released too late and sounding like “We Belong Together” Pt. 2, not fresh at all.

Well, this album doesn’t have many single choices, hence making it a little non-commercial in a sense. In short, the album is filled with fillers. After all, she only took less than a year to record it. Sounds a little too rushed. Nearly all of the album’s tracks was written and produced by Mariah, Tricky Stewart and The-Dream (Rihanna’s hit makers).

Standout Tracks

• Betcha Gon’ Know (The Prologue)
  Mariah is singing about a day of her life as Mimi. Hmm, good tune. That’s about it. Better than some fillers on her album. Promising song as the album opener.
• Obsessed
  First single. Initially I hated this track, but it grows on me due to the fact that this song fits right in the vibe of this album. Love the original album mix. HATES all the remixes. Sorry Seamus Haji, hearts all of your remixes but not this.
• H.A.T.E.U.
  The title stands for Having a Typical Emotional Upset. 3rd single of the album. A very endearing slow jam. Nothing breakthough though. Standard Mariah stuff since the Emancipation era.
• Candy Bling
  Samples “Back in the Day” by Ahmad. One of my 2 fave song from the album. She fully utilises her voice to the max in this track. And this song is very good for making out. =P Should be release as a single. Didn’t really like the remix treatment that features T-Pain.
• Ribbon
  Has the potential, BUT the vocoder-ed vocals throughout ANNOYS the hell out of me. SHEESH!!! Why spoil a song when it could be more than decent.
• Inseparable
  A rather radio-friendly commercial track. You’ll hear elements of “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper in this song (on the song structure). It’s not really direct sampling.
• Standing O
  The ‘another’ fave track on the album. This track is very Rihanna. Could be “Take a Bow” Part 2. Filled with angst. The ‘O’ hook is addictive too. Makes you wanna sing along.
• Angels Cry
  A decent ballad, but rather forgettable. The chorus is good.
• Languishing (The Interlude)
  Interlude to 2nd single, “I Want to Know What Love is“. Even though this is not a full track, this song left me wishing it could be a full track. It deserves the full treatment. Feels very vulnerable, Mariah at her best. Otherwise, a good intro before IWTKWLI.
• I Want to Know What Love Is
  2nd single. It’s a cover of a song that is originally by Foreigner. I’ve mixed feelings about this song. A very safe choice for a single. And she sounds flat when she drags ‘Is’ during mid song. Some says Mariah + Gospel Choir + “I Want to Know What Love Is” = Surefire hit. I’m neutral on this.

Final Verdict
Actually, this album sounds rather cohesive together, deemed as Mariah’s most sonically consistent album to date by Slant Magazine. That’s quite true, including the fillers too. On the other hand, the album feels that it lacks soul and passion. The fillers are thrown in for the sake of filling up the album.

Mariah definitely could not recreate the success she had on her comeback like Emancipation, neither during her early years too, the 90s. I like Music Box, Daydream and Butterfly. Sigh, those were the days. Nowadays, she producing lackluster stuff. Hoping the remix album would give her a wider range and those unreleased tracks from this sessions could see the ray of light (No pun intended). Till then….

One week after the release of Mariah Carey’s latest record, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel there are news that Mariah is coming up with another album! Not quite so. Although she failed to debut at #1 on the Billboard Album Chart, she’s not giving up hope for this album. She will be re-releasing Angel which include remixes to every song on the album. Tricky Stewart and Trey Songz spilt details on Carey’s top-secret remix album.

There’s gonna be remixes to everything. I’m actually doing some remixing myself currently ’cause some of these records were so much fun to make. It’s easy to go in and do a remix.

And he has already has something planned for the Foreigner cover.

I’m gonna do a remix to ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’ myself. I’mma raise the tempo up. I’mma try to make it into something else. Once I get the beat and if it calls for the right person, I can get anybody on the phone I want to right now, so I will be using my Rolodex for that.

One of the other featured artists on the new project will be Trey Songz. He recorded a remix to one of Memoirs’ cuts last month.

Don’t let that quote from In Touch Magazine fool ya. Although she looks “bloated” these days, she’s not pregnant. But she can’t wait to be a mom.

After going through so much throughout her career, she has never seemed more at peace. And why shouldn’t she? She’s got a man who writes her love notes each morning, even after a year-and-a-half of marriage. She is getting Oscar buzz for her gritty role in the upcoming movie Precious. And she and Nick definitely want to start a family!

It’s out! The quality is okok.. not the best… Anyways, I was hoping for more vocal performance from her. But it’s not bad… She’s using her usual low RnB voice

So it seems, Obsessed is NOT Mariah Carey’s first single of her upcoming tacky-named album "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel". So apparently her first "real" single is going to be a cover of Foreigner’s "I Want to Know What Love Is". She’s hoping to score a number #1 with her gospel rendition of this track which did hit #1 on both sides of the Atlantic when it was released in 1984.

With a not so successful fake lead single, Mariah Carey is of course desperate to make her comeback of her last comeback another big comeback… In other words, make a comeback! Haha!
