Femme Fatale (Album Cover)

I’m sure most of you guys have heard the clips from the album and a couple of leaked tracks in full. But it was never expected to ’surface’ 2 weeks before it’s release date (29th March in the US) eh? Well, should’ve seen it coming!!

Britney’s 7th studio album, about 2 1/2 years since her last effort, has frequent collaborators Max Martin and Dr. Luke serving as this album’s executive producers. Is it a good or a bad move?? As both producers are Ke$ha’s too, inevitable to have similarities, am I right?

First Impressions
To be honest, I wasn’t impressed with HIAM & TTWE. But the clips sounds promising enough for me to pursue on. With “Circus” being disappointing for me, I really hope that she would follow up and update the sound of “Blackout“. Granted, I was. This era’s effort is her most polished yet! The vibe and sound is more towards tech-pop (by that, i don’t mean by techno. It’s the technicality of raw electro) as compared to being too urban as reported.

Track Review

• Till The World Ends
  The album’s 2nd single and features the triple threat writing credits of Dr Luke, Max Martin and Ke$ha. This track basically has a ‘jump-jump’ kinda moment. The chorus sounds like a hint of Ke$ha’s “Blow“, which sounds more superior as compared to TTWE. A safe choice as a feel-good single .
• Hold It Against Me
  Introduced by the dark pulsating beats, the lead single always serves as a proper gauge on how the album’s gonna be like. Definitely a Britney record for sure, I’m relieved with the fact that it sounds nothing like what’s out there in the radio now.
• Inside Out
  Slowing the tempo down a notch, Britney’s bringing on the sensuality! A break-up song that consists of suggestive lyrics about going to ‘bed’ one more time before ending a relationship.
• I Wanna Go
  The whistles at the bridge are sure catchy. There’s something familiar with the structure of the chorus, which sounds like an Usher track. Brit’s singing out her dirty fantasies! (“Touch of My Hand“??)
• How I Roll
  A production by Bloodshy & Avant, this ‘easy-listening’ track is unique from a perspective. A laid back Britney at best.
• (Drop Dead) Beautiful [Feat. Sabi]
  The title’s being sung repetitively is driving me insane, in a bad way. She sound so monotonous! I rather trade this with the track that William Orbit and Klas Ahlund did!
• Seal It With A Kiss
  Another perfect example of how this era’s sound is gonna be. Tech-pop!! The dubstep breakdown appears on this track too.
• Big Fat Bass (Feat. will.i.am)
  A distant cousin of any track from BEP’s “The Beginning“. But of course, it’s by will.i.am. I’m rather intrigue by this collab. It’s either you love or hate this track.
• Trouble for Me
  It actually has been awhile that we’ve heard Britney sing. This track by Fraser T. Smith and Livvi Franc (Now I’m That Bitch, Automatik) is one of the highlights of the album. Loving this track!!
• Trip To Your Heart
  There seem to be a trend. Blackout’s “Heaven On Earth“, Circus’ “Unusual You” and Femme’s “Trip To Your Heart” flows rather well as a trilogy. It serves as a memory of Brit’s electropop love song/ballad which gonna be her signature tune too. Another highlight.
• Gasoline
  Metaphoring herself to a car and stating her ‘heart only runs on supreme’, “Gasoline” drifts towards a heavier beat which Brit hasn’t explored before.
• Criminal
  Flutes (?!) This folk/country sound may shock some fans. I applaud her for pairing such a tune with dark lyrics.

Final Verdict

Trading typically chart-friendly tunes like Toxic and Womanizer for a more edgier vibe, loyal Brit fans might have a tough time adjusting to this new sound. Brit’s smart in adapting and not sound like any of her fellow peers in the mainstream line now. Plus she doesn’t redicule and reduce herself to gimmicks (Little Monsters??!!). Usually, her bonus tracks are worth the space in the album too. Again, I just wish the track by William Orbit and Klas Ahlund did materialise. Otherwise, this album displays maturity from the Queen of Dance herself. Either you like it or you don’t. For me, I’m satisfied. =)

This album scores a 3.5 out of 5.

After the horrendous Britney Spears‘ Telephone Demo leak, Darkchild aka Rodney Jerkins who produced the Lady GaGa track had to do damage control!

Rodney said that the leaked version was the first demo they did for the song and was completely unmixed and unmastered, and then went on to insist that he wasn’t behind the leak and wouldn’t be leaking the final version.

He moved on and talked bout working on her next album…

“[Britney's manager] Larry Rudolph came to my house and we had an incredible conversation about Britney’s new album. We talked about the direction of her album, he gave me some insight into the direction and he wants me to work on stuff… So with that said, “Telephone” did what it had to do and we’re very pleased with the results, but now I’m about to put 200% of my focus into writing a new smash for Britney’s new album… An international smash…

“I think the fans deserve it, I think Britney deserves it and I can’t wait to get back into the studio with Britney. I’m about to go crazy on making something that’s so crazy. Since the conversation with Larry Rudolph I’ve studied some stuff from her last album and the Blackout album, and that was great stuff but I’m gonna bring something a little bit greater. I’m gonna give it my all to deliver something that’s crazy, crazy amazing for Britney.

“The conversation with Larry went great, I know exactly what the direction is and I’m gonna kill it! I’m gonna create the most incredible, unbelievable track that you could ever think of to hit the planet earth, the galaxy, around the world, all of that [laughs], for Britney Spears!”

I guess Britney will be back soon with new stuff… But for now, let me refresh your memory…

Before Telephone had Beyonce and waaaay before the lesbian love video, Telephone was originally offered to Britney Spears. But Britney’s labeled rejected the track. So Lady GaGa decided to keep the track for herself. Now, a demo of the track leaked! And OMFG! I’m speechless!Thank god the label rejected it! So whatcha think bout it?

Ke$ha

When Ke$ha dissed Britney Spears a few weeks ago, there was a huge hoo haa on her lip-syncing comment. (read more here). Then more heat was generated when a demo that Ke$ha recorded bitching Britney leaked. The song in question is Styrofoam.

In an interview with Ke$ha in Australia, she was caught of guard with the Britney question. She crarified the situation by say:

“OK the song ‘Styrofoam’, just to clarify, I didn’t write that bit. That song is from when I was fifteen, and there is a reason that song is not on my record [Animal]. So um, I have to admit, now, I do regret even singing that, because I have mad respect for her, but at the time I was fifteen and didn’t really have the balls not to sing it. I mean that is why it’s not on my record, because I can’t really stand behind it.”

I guess with all the online attacks that she has been getting, best to do some damage control by saying nice nice things… haha!

Rebel Ke$ha has nothing nice to say about Miss Britney Spears. The ‘Blah Blah Blah‘ singer blah-ed Britney for lip-syncing during her ‘Circus‘ tour.

She said:

“I think that’s bulls***,” she said. “I don’t think that’s fair at all for people who are going to see the show. I think if you are going to be a singer, you should sing. If you are going to be a dancer, you should dance.

“If you are going to do a combination of the two, you should make it very clear when you are singing and very clear when you are dancing. I would never do that to my fans.

“No offense to her specifically but people have asked me before to mime. I have been up at three in the morning for a television show with jet lag but I refuse to mime.

“It’s treating people as if they are too stupid to realize you are not actually singing. Sometimes it is hard to sing and dance at the same time but I would rather be off and be real and genuine about it to my fans. I don’t want to treat my fans like they are stupid.

“That is my take on my fans and life in general. My whole record is super-honest. I am really honest. When I am singing I may sound s*** sometimes but at least you’ll know I’m singing.”

Amen to that sista! I mean we all know it’s not easy for Britney to sing live let alone sing and dance at the same time. So i guess lipping is the only way to go for her…

New Britney soon!

It was spreading like wildfire in January about Britney Spears releasing a new album. We all thought it was true, until yesterday!

Team Britney released a statement that she is not releasing an album anytime soon. Britney has been recording songs in recent months, but according to a spokesperson from her label Jive Records, “There has been zero discussion about it.”

So far Ms Spears is rumored to have worked with producers David Guetta, Darkchild and Sean Garrett.

KISS FM has reported that most probably there will be a new Britney Spears single coming out in March and a new album months later

Producers like Darkchild, and David Guetta are said to be working on the album as well.

However, the Spears team has hire Jon Asher, a 21 year old producer/musician to help put with it as well.

According to him:

“Epic Pop is a genre that I am pioneering at the moment. Music that has meaning. It’s not your everyday pop love bug sound. It’s upbeat rhythms and sounds with meaningful emotional lyrics that people can feel. Something that truly moves you”

I wonder if her next album will be a good one, but for the Britney fans, it ain’t matter.

Britney Spears is apparently teaming up with Darkchild in her upcoming album in 2010.

According to sources:

Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins says he’s working with Britney Spears on some “very dancey, really up-tempo, aggressive, catchy, and hook friendly” material for her next album. “I’m trying some new things [with Spears] … I’ve always worked with Britney and I love working with her,” Jerkins told Rap-Up TV last week at Interscope Geffen A&M’s Creme of the Crop dinner in Los Angeles. “I’m try to reinvent her and reinvent myself with her project.” Despite the pop stars’s rocky year, Dark Child stresses her professionalism. “She’s always professional.” He adds that while some artists take a long time to record a song, during a recent studio session, “[Britney] walked in at 8:30 and was out by 10:30.” “It’s about to be her time again.” 

Jerkins has also confirmed this piece of news on his Twitter page

It’s a known fact that Britney Spears lip-syncs in most (if not all) of her performance due to her intense choreography and certain other reasons. But now, it’s creating a big hoo-haa down under and it’s only her show of first tour ever in Australia.

According to Australian news reports, disgruntled fans left Spears’ show in Perth after only three songs into the concert, complaining of a lackluster performance, apparent lip-synching and their inability to see Spears on the jumbo screens onstage. (Source)

“We are really big Britney fans, but it was crap,” Josh Blee complained to Australia’s News Limited newspapers. “I thought after the music awards she would make up for it with a wicked concert, but she has let us down.”

“Britney is aware of all this and she’s extremely upset by it,” Paul Dainty, Brit’s tour promoter, told The Australian newspaper on Monday. “She’s a human being. I’m embarrassed, with such a big international entourage here with Britney, to be part of the Australian media when I see that kind of totally inaccurate reporting.” (Source)

The Fair Trade Minister for the state of New South Wales, Virginia Judge, even suggested concert tickets should carry disclaimers about whether parts of concerts were pre-recorded and mimed. “It is Britney’s ‘prerogative’ to lip-sync, and it is my job to make sure consumers know what they are paying for up front,” Judge said in a statement released by the government.

The video for Britney’s latest number #1 single is out! This is the lead track from her upcoming greatest hits album.

To me the video is a bit yawn-ish but Britney looked pretty though. And did you notice the shameless promo of her latest fragrance?

Britney Spears is out with a new lead single for her upcoming greatest hits album called The Singles Collection. The lead track is simply called 3! In this song she proves that she knows how to count her 1-2-3s… HAHA. kidding! Anyways, this track is produced by Max Martin, the same dude you gave u the dirrty “If U Seek Amy“. 3 is not short of any dirrty hints. The chorus sounds like a threesome waiting to happen!

After 3 listens, i still can’t get a hang of the track. Gimme More and Womanizer are better lead singles in my opinion.

According to Elvis Duran’s Twitter page, Britney’s single ‘3′ take off her singles collection will world premiere on the radio show, Elivs Duran AM Show, at 7am the next morning.

The other time, i tweeted about Britney Spears coming out with a new track called “Dirty Girl“. HOW ORIGINAL RIGHT? Copying us, Christina Aguilera and all! HAHA! But now the track title has changed to Bad Girl! I does remind me of Pussycat Dolls and Rihanna.

Apparently it’s the lead track from her upcoming greatest hits collection, simply titled “The Singles Collection”. The track features Lil’ Wayne and produced by Russ Castella.

It’s not your typically overproduced Britney track, I feel. And it doesn’t have the hook like how Womanizer got us singing “I’m a womanizer womanizer womanizer, baby”…

But don’t you sometimes wonder if it’s Britney you’re listening to or not? It does sound like her, yet at times I’m not too sure. Who knows how Britney sounds like these days. This
