I have to admit, Sara Bareilles is absolutely one of the most influencial musicians to come out from the noughties and I’m quite pleased with that. Her album, ‘Little Voice’ is definitely one of the best albums I’ve heard and with songs like ‘Gravity’, ‘Love Song’ and ‘City’ – it’s not hard to love Bareilles. Brilliant lyrics and outstanding craftsmanship delivered to every bit of track – she’s really a force to be reckoned with. And I don’t have to tell you how ecstatic I am about her new album.

To be honest, I actually am not that impressed with her new single, ‘King of Anything’ upon hearing the 30-second preview of the track but I knew it has the definitive potential to grow on me. Well after the full track premiered here, I’m convinced that even if it’s not as brilliant as ‘Gravity’ or ‘Love Story’ perhaps – it’s slowly starting to get up to that point now. Basically a ‘F*ck You’ song from Sara, the lyrics are pragmatic and easy to relate to as Sara sings with a bit of angst ‘Who cares if you disagree?’ – uncanny as it may seem. You just have to love this track, I tell you.

Katy Pee is actually one of the better artists to come out in the last two years. She has the attitude, the voice and the style to perfectly fit herself into the drought the pop music world has been experiencing. ‘I Kissed A Girl’ is an absolute treat as well as ‘Hot and Cold’ and ‘Wake Me Up in Vegas’ – the success of Katy is pretty well much deserved as she can be dubbed as one of the coolest pop stars of her generation.

After nearly a year after the release of her previous single, Katy is back with a new album. It is still untitled as of the moment and will feature the first single off the album. ‘California Gurls’ – is one heck of a summer anthem. The track featuring Snoop Dogg doesn’t involve clever lyrics but does depict of everything fun about being a girl bred from California. It’s a perfect summer song and might just be Katy’s biggest hit IMHO. Although I have to agree that this track can resemble a Ke$ha track, it’s a no brainer Katy’s absolutely better than that rubbish tramp. She doesn’t need autotune to sound great – and that’s what I love the most about her. Wicked!

Adam Young’s ‘Fireflies’ is at #1 for the third week in a row while Timba and Katy Perry’s collaboration, ‘If We Ever Meet Again’ jumps 14 places to #3 this week.

Second highest new entry in the top 40 belongs to current US #1 Ke$ha with her second single, ‘Blah Blah Blah’ settling at #11. Elsewhere, Marina and the Diamonds failed to get the top 10 with her official debut single, ‘Hollywood’ which settled at #12 this week.

Rihanna whose comeback single, ‘Russian Roulette’ peaked at #3 in the UK charts last year is back with her second single off ‘Rated R’, ‘Rude Boy’ cracks the top 20 at #20.

Marina Diamand is also known as Marina and the Diamonds has been certainly making waves as she hailed second in BBC’s Sound of 2010 poll – a prestigious award that critics, producers and other big names in the music industry which tips new acts that are going to be big this year. Virgin Islander rapper Iyaz prevails Sidney Samson to win the #1 spot in the UK Singles Charts last Sunday. The Carribean singer with his debut single, ‘Replay’ smashed fellow competitions from Dutch DJ, Sidney Samson and American duo 3OH!3.

Sidney Samson already reaching #10 in Australia last year settled for #2 with his infectious ‘Riverside’ while Duo 3OH!3 comfortable jumps 3 places to #3 with their collaboration with Katy Perry, ‘Starstrukk’.

You’ve heard Beyonce’s Video Phone featuring Lady GaGa right? Well, it’s time for a GaGa songnow. The latter is releasing her collaboration with Beyonce as a track off from her new album, ‘The Fame Monster’. I’d say between the two (Video Phone + Telly), ‘Telephone’ has a lot more going on. Not that it’s mainly GaGa but the fact that the combination of the two in this track is much appealing than Video Phone (which is just a remix only). Anyways, it isn’t the typical GaGa single that would pierce your ears the first time you hear it right? Look at Poker Face, Just Dance, Bad Romance — ‘Telephone’ doesn’t have those qualities as of the moment but it’s catchy as hell. The sound effects of a busy dial tone in the background is absolutely gorg – although they can get annoying at some point.

Anyways, it’s for you to judge, which collaboration track is bettah? Beyonce or GG’s?

Lady GaGa feat. Beyonce – ‘Telephone’

At last, the most anticipated collaboration from the two of the biggest stars of 2009. Beyonce and Lady GaGa team up for the extended remix of Be’s latest single, ‘Video Phone’. Although I’m expecting they’d come up with a new track and feature the two in it, this was tad disappointing. Although the collab is fantastic, the idea I think came short. The mix was kinda good until 2:30 when GaGa started to sing. She kind of made a lively vibe into the song with her strong, big vocals.

Anyways, check out the song when it is included in Beyonce’ ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’ Deluxe Edition re-release. (how many times do they have to re-release this shite?)

Beyonce feat. Lady GaGa – ‘Video Phone (Extended Remix)’

Muse’s new video for their second single from the #1 album, ‘The Resistance‘. The track is called ‘Undisclosed Desires’ and it is going to be released on November 16, 2009.

The track is absolutely better than ‘Uprising’ which to my surprise didn’t do well in the charts. Anyways, enjoy the video and don’t forget to buy the single!

Muse – Undisclosed Desires

After hearing ‘All The Right Moves‘, I was completely surprised about how it sounded. I immediately gave it a 4 out of 5 rating amidst of not thoroughly criticising the song. I was somehow disappointed with it after hearing them performing it live. The former single doesn’t deserve the proper release it is getting. And then suddenly, ‘Secrets’ a track from ‘Waking Up’ is getting a German proper single release. Apparently, the song was included in a German film titled ‘Zweiohrküken’. Hearing ‘Secrets’ is like reminiscing ‘Apologise’ and ‘Coming Home’ from ‘Dreaming Out Loud’, their debut LP that made a mark to my life since.

‘Secrets’ is as heavy as you can imagine as a Ryan Tedder production. Having said that, it doesn’t sound like a diva song that would associate it with Jordin, Leona etc. The song’s quite convincing and very emotional as with the cello undercurrents which are efficiently utilising its use in making the song as grand as it can be. This is what OneRepublic should be doing. It’s effortless, yet subtle and big as some of their hits were.

OneRepublic – Secrets

The piano-induced ballad sounds alot like ‘History’ a former B-side from the girls’ single ‘Wake Me Up’. It’s excruciatingly sweet ballad with the song sounding a bit stronger than some of the songs from her debut LP, ‘3 Words’. Like ‘FFTL’, ‘Didn’t I’ sounds a bit cliche lyrically. It’s quite different from ‘Fight For This Love’ musically but it’s tenderness combined with Cole’s intricate bit-soulful vocals captures the heart of the song. It’s kind of the closest resemblance of Cole’s impression on GA in the album which drops a week after the release of ‘Fight For This Love’. And don’t forget to watch her pre-recorded performance of ‘FFTL’ on the X-Factor Sunday.

The British songstress' debut album presents her best attempt of a thespian outlook of music.

The 37-minute compilation of Paloma’s hard work opens with the debut single, ‘Stone Cold Sober’. Its catchiness can be related to a familiar track, ‘Mercy’. Its baffling atmosphere gives Paloma an edge that’s worth listening for. Well, it’s probably the album’s best track thus giving the album an exciting feel to listen more.

‘Smoke and Mirrors’ in a way is one of the very soulful anthems presented in the album. The chorus sounds alike with the second single, ‘New York’. The piano hooks were outstanding as well as the violins and the trumpets which makes the track very big in sound. Its glamour and thespian point of view doesn’t fail to interpret Paloma’s unadulterated passion for music.

Although ‘Stone Cold Sober’ can be the best track, there are equally commendable anthems in the LP. The title track shows brilliant production and one of the most amazing lyrics that the album has to offer, ‘Do You Want the Truth or something beautiful? Just close your eyes and make believe, I’m Happy to deceive you.’ The songstress astoundingly gives enough intense emotion and passion to make the song one of its shining moments.

‘Upside Down’ plays down to a 50’s vintage dance-party theme. Her rich-soulful vocals intemperately give enough visualisation about what the songs’ about. A big surprise, ‘Stargazer’ produces an R&B inflicted vibe but it unfortunately doesn’t go along well with enough hooks and glam to give it a brilliant finish.

Paloma is merely successful in providing us the escape to reality she’s talking about. It’s moving enough, colourful enough but not quite when it comes to musicality. There are points of improvement but as far as we know, she’s ready for recognition. Her debut ‘Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful’ maybe too long in title but for sure, Paloma Faith’s impending fame isn’t going to take that much long.
