Jennifer Lopez
Woah! Yes, you read it right! Jennifer Lopez and Sony Music have parted ways! With 2 under performing albums; plus 2 new failed tracks from her upcoming album, it’s not that shocking. Actually, i was surprised that they didn’t release her any sooner. Now, we may not see the light of her upcoming album, Love? scheduled for April release. DAMN!
At first, there are reports that her latest album was pushed back due to 2 reasons. One of them is to coincide with her upcoming movie, “The Back-Up Plan” and another is due to flop singles. But with this fresh out of the oven news, we all know why.
This split was confirmed by Jenny’s manager, Benny Medina:
“Jennifer had a wonderful relationship with the Sony Music group, and they have shared many successes together, but the time was right to make a change that best serves the direction her career as an actress and recording artist. She is grateful and appreciative to everyone Sony for all that they accomplished together.”
And Jenny’s insiders claim the decision was a mutual one between the star and label’s current CEO Rob Stringer. The break up happened during the Grammy Week when both met up for a serious talk and decided to end the long relationship.
A source also said:
“Sony Music execs aren’t sure who her audience is anymore. Where once she had little girls, she’s been supplanted by Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna.”
And of course, the “I’m Real” singer have a back-up plan (pun intended). It is rumored that, she’s in talks with Def Jam’s L.A. Reid. But we’ll see where the talks goes.
It is reported, Sony will be releasing a JLo Greatest Hits album in the fall.
