Review: Mariah Carey – I Want To Know What Love Is

tn-mariahc-moaia

It’s out! The quality is okok.. not the best… Anyways, I was hoping for more vocal performance from her. But it’s not bad… She’s using her usual low RnB voice

For those who dont know, this track is originally sung and recorded by The Foreigners and its their biggest hit ever. Remade by Tina Arena and now Mariah Carey!

  1. It sounds great! Nicely produced & arranged. She indeed kept her promise for a big ballad! And this one is IT! Whether will it be a chart breaker wise, is uncertain. But wouldn’t be surprise to see it at tops of UK charts. This one is so much more easily digestible compared to Obsessed! I love it!

  2. Not to forget! It brings back a lot of reminiscence of the good old 90s, mellow Mariah!

  3. I like it! very mellow and definitely reminiscent of classic Mariah. A step in the right direction after the miserably flat ‘Obsessed’.

  4. @Lokies are u the same lokies that always comments on Fridae.com?

    haha

  5. @dirrtysean: HAHA, yes, it is I, the ‘residential commenter’!

  6. @Lokies lol! resisdential commenter.. lolx!

  7. @dirrtysean *winks. Keep rockin’ you people at dirrty!

  8. Mimi is back and killing all them other hoes with her glittery dolphin squeals. I came when I heard it for the first time. Get it Mimi!

  9. ok, the first stenza wins my heart… i think it might be a big hit.

I just dont understand why there is a need to have the key change in the end…

still.. smoking hot! I love it!

  10. It just sounds like another soft-rock ballad–rather boring IMO.

  11. why Mariah drops a ballad, boy… does she drop a ballad…

the original was one of the biggest records of the year when released
so this will hit the broadest audiences – reminiscent of ‘i’ll be there’ in its simplicity and delivers all the emotion in the power of her vocal…

and the remixes will surely be crazy uplifting!!

it will be HUGE. globally. no doubt.

  12. Love It,

This Is Mariah doing Mariah. She sings in alot of different ways to create musical adversity for herself. I particularly like this about her, but this song however brings out one of my favorite parts of her.

    Great job MC

  13. i totally love mariah’s version! the end part was the best! she can still sing!

she will make the foreigners proud, this song will reach the old audience and the new once as well. she brought back the classic mariah which we all love. mariah is a fantastic ballad singer. i can see her singing this song at the grammys

cant wait for memoirs next month

  14. Oh lord….boring rendition of the song and worse still, Mariah’s voice is fading. I really don’t know how to describe her voice…her middle registers are rather weak but strong on the highs. This could mean why she squeals often like a dolphin at the end. I hope Mariah can be more original in her rendition and have more exciting music. Her music has become too urban for me.

  15. just plain crap. sorry guys.. unbelievably silly cover and a waste of time!

  16. I absolutley hate it. The original is much better. This version will be a flop. MC sounds a hot mess, even on a recorded track. The fact the she will destroy it live doesn’t help either.

  17. One of the biggest massacres of a song that I can ever remember hearing. Nothing but a jumbled up bunch of mess with no emotion that sounds like a 2 year old arranged. How can anyone think this crap sounds good. No wonder they keep pushing back the release date, I would be hesitant too.
