News: Ryan Tedder Speaks About the Controversy

alreadygone1

Kelly Clarkson kinda threw Ryan Tedder under the bus by voicing out on this issue. Most people could point out that her new single “Already Gone”, has the same backing track as Beyonce’s single, “Halo” which are both produced and written by Ryan.

In turn, here’s what Ryan has to say.

“Already Gone” is one of the best song I’ve written or produced since “Bleeding Love” and stands tall on it’s own merits apart from “Halo”. They are two entirely different songs conceptually, melodically, & lyrically and I would never try to dupe an artist such as Kelly Clarkson or Beyoncé into recording over the same musical track, the idea is both hurtful & absurd. I think when people hear “Already Gone” they will hear what I hear-one of the greatest female vocalists on earth giving her most haunting and heart-breaking performance on a song she helped write. I challenge people to listen and form their own opinions”.

I’m sure most of us who listens to music knows that almost all of Ryan’s written/produced tracks sounds very similar. The matter is blown up cause it invovles Kelly and Beyonce (Both are superstars).

What do you think about Ryan’s reply???

  1. This really is starting to get on my nerves.
Just because both tracks are Tedder-produced and sample a piano-driven melody does not mean they are cookie-cuts.
I enjoy both songs, though I am in definite agreement with Tedder that Kelly gives one of her most standout performances on Already Gone and it is perhaps his best song to date since Bleeding Love.
People forget that part of being a successful producer is being able to have your stamp on a song, it’s what makes it your own and not someone else’s. For instance, both Timbaland and RedOne have a very characteristic style to their productions, and I dare say that several of their songs sound eerily similar, more so than these two for Tedder. (Come on, Kat DeLuna’s debut album was nearly one song remixed)

I think Ryan throws this argument out of the water even further by stating that Kelly helped write the song (and can I just mention hers came first?)
I think before people start making such claims they need to go do some music theory classes!

  2. I don’t see what all the fuss is about. Already Gone sounds similiar to Halo the way any two Justin Timberlake/Timbaland songs sound alike. Just like Teddy Riley songs and Babyface songs during the New Jack Swing era sounded alike. Like Erasure or the Beach Boys or Phil Spector, etc.

It’s what producers and songwriters do. They have a SOUND that they’re known for. And when an artist works with them or sings one of their songs, they’re going to get a track that has their stamp, their sound on it.

I say move on! This is not a story.
