“Guilty Pleasure” is the 2nd studio album by Ashley Tisdale. This album is being released in Europe, Spain and the UK first for the month of June. It would be release last in the US and Canada on July 28th.
First Impressions
It’s standard pop-rock fare and being just turned 24 this month, she feels younger than her age to me. Ashley’s music inspirations for this album includes Katy Perry and Pat Benatar. She was also involved in every aspect of the album’s production.
What makes this album bearable is that she has mass teen appeal. In my opinion, she’s definitely better than fellow HSM member V. Hudgens and Miley Cyrus.
Standout Tracks
- It’s Alright, It’s OK
Lead single from the album. dirrtysean lurves this song loads. Haha. It sure has a big chorus that you could chant to and it’s radio friendly. The song didn’t peaked well, but is Ashley’s most sucessful song to date, due to the amount of charts the song has entered.
- Masquerade
I like the guitar riffs and the first verse. Other than that, it’s pretty alright. The song serves as a promo single.
- Overrated
Part of me feels that this song could come straight from a teen movie. It’s another promo single from the album too.
- What If
This song is about when you’re in a relationship and you say ‘If I really needed you, would you actually be there?’. Ashley co-wrote this song with Kara DioGuardi.
- Erase and Rewind
My fave song from the album. I could sing this song aloud with a water bottle on my hand (acting as a mic). Opps, too much info. It’s about being unable to let go. This song is just so addictive with the catchy hooks.
Final Verdict
This album allows me to relive the times when I was in high school. Besides the songs mentioned above, the rest is kinda like filler material to me. It does brings the energy though and most teens would relate to the lyrics in the songs from the album. I think it’s a singles only album, provided they’ll do well in the charts.
This album scores a 2.5 out of 5.

Ok, I was ovrall pleasantly surprised by this album! And I agree, the RedOne produced track “Erase and Rewind” is certainly an album favorite, but you forgot perhaps the most surprising track out of the bunch, “How Do You Love Someone?” produced by the great Billy Steinberg. Sure, it’s way dramatic, but what a great, angsty powerpop song!

Thanks for the additional comment. =) Yeah, it’s sorta like a power rock ballad. =)
